Week Beginning Monday 18th January

16th Jan 2021

Dear Parents

Well, that is our first week over.  I hope all went well with the home study packs and any online materials that you were using.

Monday sees the next collection of packs and the return of last week’s pack for marking.  Two large boxes will be beside the collection tables for you to put the completed work into.  Please return the folder/zip folder with everything that was in it when you collected it last Monday (even helpsheets).

This week we will try to give out family packs with the youngest child so that you might have them a little earlier in the day. Look out for them on the tables and ask if not all the packs you should have are there.

Once again there will be a rota for the staggered return & collection of Remote Learning packs on Monday as follows:

OH & RN              9.30-10.30am

PS & FMG            11.00-12.00

VC & PT               12.30-1.30pm

One person at a time to enter the school grounds

Strictly No Socializing

In school we begin and end the day with a prayer.  In these trying times, another good activity would be to similarly begin and end the day's study with the Our Father and Hail Mary. Older classes would even know a Decade of the Holy Rosary.

In the last academic year, we were closed all of April, May and June.  We will now be closed for January and probably most of February.  We are following directives sent out by Department of Education, so it is vital for you to ensure that your child/ren complete all the work that has been set for them.  It is not optional.  Home study like this is never going to be as good as face-to-face teaching but it is the best substitute given the circumstances.  For them not to complete the packs would be a disaster for their education and development.

And finally on a different subject, if you or anyone you know has a child starting school in September 2021, they should apply for a school place by going to the EA website.  The online admissions process for pre-schools and primary schools is open until 12 noon 29 January - www.eani.org.uk/parents

For help and advice parents/ guardians can contact the Admissions Helpdesk via emails: preschooladmissions@eani.org.uk or primaryadmissions@eani.org.uk

So, I hope all goes well for you this week and don’t forget also to perhaps participate in some non-academic activities such as cookery, outdoor play and creativity. Photos for the website or Facebook would be very welcome.

All the best and stay safe,

P Torney
